golf courses within half and hours drive of the Old Rectory
including the world famous Machrihanish golf course which has
the honour of having been voted as having the best first hole in
the world.
Cycling- there are

Fishing- there is
some truly fantastic fishing in the Kintyre area, whither your
interest is in loch fishing, River fishing or even just sea
fishing off the Campbeltown pier, which is only 5 minutes walk

Hill walking–
Kintyre offers some of the best walking in Scotland and although
the hills do not have the height of some of their larger
sisters, the make up for it in other areas, including some of
the most amazing views in Scotland. Another area in which the
Kintyre hills excels is in peace and quiet, with such a large
area to explore it is very unlikely you will meet anyone else on
your travels and it offers the chance for a true wilderness
experience. Another great option is to visit some of the many
remains of old villages that are scattered throughout the area
and as some are in very remote places it is a sight not many
have seen. And of course no trip to Campbeltown would be
complete with out a trip to the world famous Mull of Kintyre,
which is a truly remote place offering some of the finest views
in the area. Many of these walks can be started from the Old
Rectory while others may require the use of local bus services
or for the truly remote parts a car will be needed.
Rock Climbing-
Kintyre offers some fantastic rock climbing and route guides can
be found in the Aran Arrochar and southern highlands guide
book. Most of the routes are on the Mull of Kintyre and it is
hard to find a more pleasant place to climb in Scotland.
Guided walks and
rock climbs many be available from the Old Rectory, please feel
free to contact us to ask about this option.
Beaches/Surfing-

your wish to simply to lie back and relax or to get your board
out and enjoy the waves. Surfboards are available to hire in the
local surf shop, which is only 5 minutes walk from the Old
Rectory.
