Welcome to the Dunvalanree Hotel, Carradale

Dunvalanree is a small hotel ijust outside Carradale where it overlooks Port Righ Bay. Following in the footsteps of kings and saints and Viking warriors it is an ideal centre to explore places like Gigha, Machrihanish and Campbeltown as well as further afield the coasts and islands of Argyll. Dunvalanree’s varied menu in the licensed restaurant menu uses local sea food and farm produce. After dinner enjoy a Springbank whisky and fall asleep to the sound of the sea.

We supply fresh milk (not UHT cartons) for tea or coffee. Each room also has binoculars, and a guest folder that we have prepared ourselves detailing all the different things to do during your visit to Dunvalanree.

We have a policy of using local produce where possible so smoked cheese, shellfish, fish, fresh fish are from the Old Smokehouse, Campbeltown, and fresh fish from the fish shop, Campbeltown. Prawns and scallops from Carradale fishermen.  Lamb and beef come from Ifferdale Farms.

Travel north over the Erskine (toll) Bridge from the M8, take the A82 signposted to Crianlarich (left off the bridge). Travel up the west side of Loch Lomond to Tarbet (not to be confused with Tarbert) where the road becomes the A83 - the A82 turns off to Crianlarich. Travel through Arrochar, over the Rest And Be Thankful mountain pass, past Loch Fyne Oysters, Inveraray, Lochgilphead (take first exit off each of the Lochgilphead roundabouts) and head for Tarbert. The signs should all point to Campbeltown.  Take the A83 towards Campbeltown, after six miles, just after the Kennacraig ferry terminal turn left onto the B8001 (Carradale), a single track road, after about five miles this turns into the B842. Continue south for about fifteen miles to Carradale. Turn off onto the B879 (marked Carradale) and drive through Carradale West to Carradale East. At the crossroads near the bus stop you will see the sign for Dunvalanree, turn right and we are right at the end of that road, about half a mile.
