Welcome to
Kilchrist Castle Cottages
|
|
|
The Old Byre with
its 'Doocote' (Dovecote) dates from the 17th century, and the
cosy cottages provide a real 'away from it all' experience. Walk
from the door and view the sun setting over the sea from above
the cottages. If you can drag yourself away, you are well placed
to visit the beaches and sights of Southern Kintyre, go fishing,
horse riding, play golf - or just relax on a secluded beach..

Accommodation
Four cottages for all year holidays and breaks
|
To choose your
cottage, bear the following in mind: Angus is by far the largest
and sleeps six. Campbell is the smallest, cosy for two, or a young
family of three. MacDonald is suitable for a well-behaved
dog. Smoking is allowed in MacDonald only. MacGregor
has two bedrooms, sleeps four but has a small living space so
recommended for two plus a child, or as a base for two adults and
two children if you are out all day.

Overview of Cottages
Angus

rent £220-£440
Sleeps 4+2 in two bedrooms
This is the largest of the cottages, and has a more
spacious living space for dining, cooking and
relaxing, including two large leather sofas. A big
arched window looks towards the castle across a field.
A spiral stone staircase leads up to a shower room and
the bedrooms - a double and a bunk room for four.
Campbell
Weekly

Sleeps 2/3 in 2 bedrooms
This semi-detached cosy cottage is our smallest, all
on ground floor level. It has an open aspect towards
the castle. There are two bedrooms, a double and a
single. The living area is open plan, and this cottage
has a 'New England' feel.
MacDonald

rent £190-£385
Sleeps 4 in two bedrooms
This semi-detached single storey cottage is furnished
in traditional style. It offers a double and a twin
bedroom both with views towards the castle. Smoking is
permitted in this cottage only, and one well-behaved
pet is allowed at no extra charge.
MacGregor
Weekly
rent £190-£385

MacGregor is a two storey semi-detached cottage. It
can easily be combined with Angus for a party of up to
ten. On the ground floor is the cosy living area and
the shower room, while the two bedrooms are upstairs.
One looks towards the castle, and the other has a
lovely open aspect over the countryside.

Directions
Coming from South of
Glasgow, join the M8 Westbound and cross the Erskine Bridge. Keep
on the A82 until it branches to the A83 at the North of Loch
Lomond. Possible coffee stops include Inveraray and Lochgilphead.
After Tarbert, the A83 crosses to the West of the peninsular, head
down it past Tayinloan, Bellochantuy (try to pronounce it). When
the road leaves the spectacular shoreline, take the road to the
right, signposted for the airport. Take the left turn to and past
the airport, keep going until T junction. Then turn left to
Stewarton and turn right at the Country Store, the nearest shop to
Kilchrist. About a mile along the Southend Road, turn left
at Knocknaha, just past the telephone box. Follow the road
past the castle entrance, branch left into the unmade road and
left again, following the track with the castle wall alongside on
your left. The white-washed buildings up ahead of you are
Kilchrist Castle Cottages. The entrance to the parking area
is just above them.
