Directions
The journey from
Glasgow takes around 3.5 hours (minimum).
From Glasgow take
the M8 heading towards Greenock as far as the Erskine Bridge.
Go over the bridge and follow the signs to Campbeltown – A82.
At Tarbet on Loch Lomond stay on the road to Campbeltown – it
becomes the A83 at this point. The A83 will take you all the
way to Campbeltown down the Kintyre peninsula.
Drive into the
centre of Campbeltown and this will lead you to a ‘T’ junction.
Turn right along Main Street and then shortly the main road
bears round to the right taking you onto the road towards
Machrihanish and Southend – it is still the A83.
At the first small
village called Stewarton turn left towards Southend. Continue
to Southend, passing through the village and continue on around
the headland and beyond until you meet a road to the left,
signposted to Mull of Kintyre. Continue along this road over a
hump-backed bridge then passing Lephenstrath Farm. The next
farm you come to is Carskiey.
To get to Shore
Cottage you take the farm track on the left alongside the burn
towards the bay. There is a restricted parking area close to
the ford for cars - or 4x4 vehicle access through the ford and
along the farm track to the cottage.
